Description
Azure AI Engineer
We’re exclusively partnering with a growing organisation that is investing heavily in its Azure and AI capability and is looking for an Azure AI Engineer to join a newly developing team.
This is a hands on engineering role focused on building and deploying production grade AI solutions within the Microsoft Azure ecosystem. You’ll work across Generative AI, RAG, intelligent document processing and AI agents, helping take AI use cases from initial concept through to secure, scalable production solutions.
It’s a great opportunity for someone who wants to work on genuine enterprise AI use cases while having the opportunity to help shape best practices and engineering standards as the capability grows.
What you’ll be doing
- Designing and building production grade Generative AI and LLM solutions using Azure AI Foundry and Azure OpenAI
- Developing RAG solutions using Azure AI Search, including embeddings, vector and hybrid search, reranking and grounding
- Building intelligent document processing and information extraction solutions using Azure Document Intelligence
- Developing AI agents using tool/function calling and integrating them with enterprise systems, APIs and workflows
- Working extensively with prompt engineering, context management, orchestration and model configuration
- Building supporting APIs, Azure Functions and lightweight services primarily in Python
- Evaluating AI solutions across accuracy, relevance, groundedness, safety, latency and cost
- Implementing appropriate AI security, privacy, validation and human in the loop controls
- Helping establish reusable AI components, patterns and engineering standards
- Working with CI/CD, Azure DevOps/GitHub and Infrastructure as Code
What we’re looking for
You don’t need to tick every box, but ideally you’ll have:
- 5+ years’ experience across software, cloud or data engineering
- Strong hands on Python engineering experience
- Commercial experience building Generative AI or LLM based solutions
- Experience with Azure OpenAI and ideally Azure AI Foundry
- Strong understanding of RAG, embeddings, vector search and Azure AI Search
- Experience taking AI solutions into a production environment
- Knowledge of AI agents, tool/function calling and orchestration
- Experience with Document Intelligence or similar document processing technologies
- An understanding of AI evaluation, security, responsible AI and production monitoring
- Experience with Azure DevOps or GitHub, CI/CD and Infrastructure as Code
- Exposure to Azure security services including Entra ID, Managed Identity, RBAC and Key Vault
The opportunity
This isn’t a research role or a traditional software engineering position with a small amount of AI added on. AI engineering is at the heart of the role.
You’ll be joining at an exciting stage of the organisation’s AI journey, with the opportunity to work on real world use cases, help establish how AI solutions are built across the business and see the technology you create move into production.
Location: UK, hybrid working with up to 2 days per week in an office
