The role oversees site IT services, end-user computing, network and infrastructure operations, vendor management, and information security alignment for IREN’s Spanish facilities, ensuring reliable, secure, and scalable IT services that support both data center and corporate operations.
Based in Madrid, this hands-on leadership role acts as the IT presence on the ground for IREN Spain, bridging local execution with global IT strategy. The Senior Manager partners closely with global IT leadership, site operations, business stakeholders, Engineering, and Security teams to translate global standards into locally executable plans while operating effectively across cultures, languages, and time zones.
Responsibilities
Reporting to the Director Strategy & Transformation, the IT Manager is responsible for:
- Lead day-to-day IT operations across IREN’s Spain sites, including end-user computing, on-site infrastructure, connectivity, collaboration platforms, and regional service delivery, ensuring alignment with global IT standards and service management practices.
- Build, manage, and develop the local IT team to support corporate office users and data center facility operations, acting as the primary regional escalation point for site leaders, operations teams, and key stakeholders.
- Partner with global Network, Infrastructure, Engineering, and Security teams to support the deployment, monitoring, operational integrity, and secure performance of site IT systems and supporting infrastructure.
- Coordinate with data center operations to ensure IT systems supporting facility operations, monitoring, control networks, and OT/IT integration points are reliable, secure, and aligned with operational requirements.
- Manage local IT vendor relationships, telecommunications providers, hardware suppliers, managed service partners, procurement, asset management, and lifecycle planning in line with global procurement and finance processes.
- Ensure local implementation of security controls, IT policies, incident response capabilities, and compliance requirements, including GDPR, EU data protection expectations, audit support, and regional risk management activities.
- Translate global IT standards, strategies, roadmaps, infrastructure initiatives, and lifecycle requirements into locally executable plans for Spanish sites, accounting for language, culture, regulatory context, and business priorities.
- Provide regular reporting on IT operational performance, risks, projects, capacity, and IT readiness for new site builds, expansions, and transitions across the Spain region.
Requirements
- Minimum of 7+ years of progressive IT experience, including at least 3+ years in an IT leadership or people management role.
- Demonstrated experience leading IT operations in multi-site environments, preferably supporting data center, industrial, critical infrastructure, or high-availability operations.
- Strong knowledge of Microsoft 365 administration, including Entra, SharePoint, Defender, Sentinel, and related enterprise collaboration and security tools; experience with Google Workspace migrations is highly valued.
- Fluent English, with the ability to communicate effectively with local teams, global stakeholders, vendors, and senior business partners.
- Strong working knowledge of ITIL service management frameworks, including incident, problem, change, release, capacity, and service level management; ITIL v3 or ITIL 4 certification is a plus.
- Experience managing vendors, contracts, IT budgets, procurement, asset lifecycle, and service delivery in a regulated, enterprise, or high-availability environment.
- Working understanding of GDPR and EU data protection requirements, with familiarity with ISO 27001 or equivalent information security frameworks considered an advantage.
- Proven ability to operate effectively in a global, cross-cultural environment, including collaboration across multiple time zones and translation of global standards into local requirements.
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, or a related field, or an equivalent combination of education and professional experience.
