Senior Infrastructure Engineer – Azure & Infrastructure Modernisation Salary: £70 000 Location: Central London (Hybrid – 1 day per week onsite) We're partnering with one of the UK's most established and recognisable healthcare and wellbeing organisations to recruit a Senior Infrastructure Engineer. With a significant national presence and a reputation built around improving people's health and wellbeing, this is an organisation where technology plays a critical role in delivering services that make a genuine difference. We're looking for an experienced Infrastructure Engineer who combines strong traditional infrastructure knowledge with modern Azure engineering capabilities. You'll be comfortable operating in a hybrid environment and have experience contributing to infrastructure modernisation, cloud migrations and technical improvement projects. The Role As a Senior Infrastructure Engineer, you'll be responsible for designing, implementing and maintaining the infrastructure that supports critical business applications and services. Working across both traditional on-premise infrastructure and Microsoft Azure, you'll contribute to the organisation's cloud transformation journey, supporting migrations, automation initiatives and improvements to platform reliability and security. You'll work closely with Infrastructure, Architecture, DevOps, Networking and Security teams, helping influence technical decisions while remaining actively involved in engineering and delivery. Key responsibilities include: - Design, implement and optimise hybrid infrastructure environments across Azure and on-premise platforms. - Support the migration of applications, databases and infrastructure services into Microsoft Azure. - Implement Infrastructure as Code (IaC) using Terraform, ARM templates or Bicep. - Design and maintain secure Azure environments, including Entra ID, RBAC, managed identities and Key Vault. - Support and improve Windows Server, Linux, storage and virtualisation platforms. - Drive automation, infrastructure optimisation and continuous improvement initiatives. - Strengthen platform resilience through backup, disaster recovery, monitoring and security improvements. - Collaborate with technical teams to influence infrastructure design and architectural decisions. - Provide technical leadership, mentoring and support to junior engineers. Essential experience: - Strong hands-on experience with Microsoft Azure infrastructure and cloud services, including IaaS and PaaS. - Solid traditional infrastructure experience across Windows Server, Linux and virtualisation. - Experience with Infrastructure as Code, ideally Terraform or Bicep. - Good understanding of Azure networking, DNS, firewalls, VPNs and load balancing. - Experience with Azure identity and security services, particularly Entra ID. - Scripting and automation experience using PowerShell or Bash. - Knowledge of high availability, backup, disaster recovery and infrastructure security. - Experience troubleshooting complex infrastructure issues and contributing to technical design decisions.
