AI Engineer London – Hybrid £70,000 – £90,000 Artificial Intelligence / Azure / Generative AI / Machine Learning FinTech / Banking / Insurance I’m working with a growing business in the fintech and banking sector looking to hire an experienced AI Engineer to help build and deploy AI-driven solutions across its technology platforms. You’ll work on developing and integrating AI capabilities, with a focus on generative AI, machine learning and Microsoft Azure. Working closely with software engineering, data and architecture teams, you’ll play a key role in turning emerging AI technologies into secure, scalable solutions that deliver real business value within financial services. The business has been going for 15+ years and develop SaaS products delivered into FinTech, Banking & Insurance businesses across London & the UK. This role requires office working of 2 days a week in Central London. Key Responsibilities - Design, develop and deploy AI solutions using Microsoft Azure and modern AI technologies. - Build and integrate generative AI applications, including LLM-powered solutions. - Develop AI workflows, APIs and services that integrate with existing business systems. - Work with data and engineering teams to prepare data and optimise AI model performance. - Implement responsible AI practices, security controls and appropriate governance. - Support the deployment, monitoring and continuous improvement of AI solutions. Experience Required - 1-2 years commercial experience as an AI Engineer, Machine Learning Engineer or Software Engineer with a strong AI focus. - Experience building and deploying AI or machine learning solutions in production environments. - Strong Python development skills and experience working with APIs. - Experience with Microsoft Azure AI services, Azure OpenAI or similar cloud-based AI platforms. - Understanding of generative AI, large language models (LLMs), prompt engineering and retrieval-augmented generation (RAG). - Knowledge of software engineering best practices, version control, testing and CI/CD. Nice to Have - Experience with Azure AI Foundry or Azure AI Search. - Exposure to vector databases, embeddings and document retrieval pipelines. - Experience with LangChain, LangGraph or similar AI development frameworks. - Knowledge of machine learning frameworks such as PyTorch, TensorFlow or scikit-learn. - Experience with Docker, Kubernetes or deploying AI workloads at scale. - Previous experience within fintech, banking or other regulated financial services environments.
