Description

Tethys Robotics develops innovative robotic solutions for subsea inspection & investigation operations in challenging conditions. We serve governmental organizations, large asset operators and industrial service providers operating in high-demand and mission-critical environments. As an ETH Zürich spin-off, we are a fast-growing pioneer in underwater robotics, rooted in Switzerland. As we scale from individual systems towards the production and delivery of multiple robots in parallel, we are looking for a hands-on UI Software Engineer to help develop, industrialize and continuously improve our robotic platforms. Tasks - Develop and integrate complex UI modules, connecting disparate systems and data streams. - Implement sophisticated real-time data visualizations. - Implement core user interactions with robotic systems and web applications. - Perform functional verification tests and troubleshoot issues. - Support user interviews and help translate requirements into design input criteria. - Work with the development team to refine the visual and interaction layer. - Create technical documentation for user interaction and implementation. Requirements - 2+ years of experience with Unity (C# and uGUI) or a TypeScript framework (Vue.js or similar). Experience with both is a strong advantage. - 1+ year of hands-on experience developing real-time visualization systems. - A passion for human-computer interaction (HCI) and the ability to translate abstract requirements into concrete, production-ready code. - Completed education in computer science, software engineering, human-computer interaction, game development, or another highly technical engineering field with a focus on user-centric software development. - Understanding of event-driven programming and experience applying it in software development. - Experience working with Git version control. - Strong problem-solving and connected thinking skills. - A drive to write clean, high-quality code. - Comfortable working in a cross-functional team. - Good organizational skills and attention to detail. - Fluent in spoken and written English. - Interest in underwater robotics. You don't meet every point exactly? Apply anyways! Bonus points if you bring: - Knowledge of robotics middleware such as ROS/ROS2 and experience interfacing with live sensor data. - Experience with map rendering and interaction logic in both 2D and 3D. - Hands-on experience with drones or other robotic systems. - Experience with high-performance rendering or computationally intensive visualizations, such as compute shaders, graphics pipelines, or point clouds. - Knowledge of clean code practices and software design principles such as SOLID. - Experience with automated testing, CI/CD, or GitHub Actions. - Familiarity with concurrent programming. - Experience with Python. Benefits - Collaborative culture where your ideas directly impact product development. - A dynamic, passionate and high-performance team with a strong builder mentality and flat hierarchies. - Streamlined decision-making processes, flat start-up hierarchies, and modern working methods that cultivate great ideas. - Exposure to cutting-edge robot technology and hands-on experience with real-world data processing and visualization. - Modern office in Schlieren, Zürich. - Attractive compensation in a startup environment. ‍We value diversity: Tethys Robotics encourages an inclusive culture. We promote equality of opportunity, value diversity and nurture a working and learning environment in which the rights and dignity of all are respected. ‍ Curious? So are we! We look forward to receiving your online application as we value the attitude over experience. In any case, please provide a full overview of the following documents – we value the completeness: - Cover letter - Curriculum Vitae - Letter of reference / work certificates - Education certificates ‍ - Please note: We only accept applications via the online portal.
