Description
For an automotive engineering organization in Eindhoven, we are looking for an experienced System Function Design Engineer to develop control concepts for heavy-duty engine and powertrain systems.
You will work on engine controls, aftertreatment, emissions and diagnostics, translating technical and regulatory requirements into robust control strategies and system functionalities.
Important: the following experience is mandatory
- Professional experience within the automotive industry
- Hands-on experience with automotive OBD
- Relevant experience with engine and/or powertrain control systems
Candidates without demonstrable experience in automotive, OBD and engine/powertrain systems will not be considered.
What you will do
- Develop control concepts and functionalities for heavy-duty diesel engine and powertrain systems.
- Develop emission-related controls and OBD/OBM concepts.
- Translate emission, OBD and product requirements into system and controller requirements.
- Define and document control strategies and system functionalities.
- Develop and integrate control concepts using SIL, HIL and Rapid Control Prototyping (RCP).
- Verify and validate functionalities through simulation, engine and/or vehicle testing.
- Work closely with controls, software, calibration, diagnostics and system engineering teams.
- Act as a technical integrator between suppliers and internal stakeholders.
- Support calibration engineers with the initial calibration of newly developed functionalities.
- Support software implementation and integration where required.
- Continuously improve related tools and development processes.
What you bring
Must-haves
- MSc degree in Automotive Engineering, Mechanical Engineering or a related discipline, preferably with a focus on dynamics and control.
- Several years of professional experience in the automotive industry.
- Demonstrable experience with automotive OBD.
- Experience with engine and/or powertrain control development.
- Experience with engine and aftertreatment systems.
- Experience with EU and/or North American emission and OBD regulations.
- Strong knowledge of MATLAB and Simulink.
- Good English communication skills.
Nice to have
- Experience with Six Sigma methods such as DMAIC, DFSS, FMEA and Monte Carlo.
- Knowledge of requirements engineering; IREB is a plus.
- Knowledge of development process models such as SPICE/ASPICE.
- Experience with SIL, HIL and RCP testing on engine systems.
- Experience with DOORS Next Generation.
- Dutch language skills.
