Description

Overview TensorX is a sovereign AI infrastructure platform headquartered in Dublin. We run frontier open-weight large language models on our own NVIDIA Blackwell GPUs in European datacentres, under EU jurisdiction. Customers reach them through a drop-in OpenAI-compatible API. Nothing they send is retained after the request completes. We serve regulated enterprises in finance, healthcare and government as well as developers and AI platforms. We help them adopt AI without compromising on data privacy, compliance or performance. We are looking for an Infrastructure Operations Engineer to join our growing engineering team. Reporting to the CTO, you will keep our server estate configured, patched, monitored and working. Everything we sell runs on our own hardware: Dell PowerEdge servers, Dell switches, SAN storage, fibre and copper. The estate is growing fast. Most of your days will be in our Dublin office with the team. You will set up servers, run maintenance windows, look after monitoring and chase down errors. When hardware needs hands, you will go to the datacentre to rack, cable, swap parts or meet a Dell engineer. The servers happen to be GPU servers, but you do not need to be a GPU specialist or know how the AI models run on them. We are an AI-native team. Tools such as Claude Code and Codex are part of our daily workflow and materially accelerate how we build and operate systems. You will work with our platform and inference engineers every day to make sure the servers underneath them are ready, stable and up to date. You own each server up to a healthy, patched and monitored machine with an operating system on it. Kubernetes, the inference engines and the model-serving layer belong to other teams. We will hire at mid or senior level. This is a hands-on individual contributor role spanning server builds, patching, monitoring, hardware faults and day-to-day network and storage changes. Responsibilities - Server build & configuration - Install, configure and update the operating system on our servers, which are mostly Dell PowerEdge. Build each server to a standard and hand it to the team in a known good state. - Patch management - Keep operating systems, BIOS, iDRAC and other firmware on an agreed baseline. Plan and run maintenance windows one server at a time, with a rollback plan if something goes wrong. - Observability - Set up and look after monitoring, logging and alerting for servers, storage and network. Make sure we hear about a failing disk or a flapping link before a customer does. - Error management & on call - Triage hardware and OS errors and alerts. Find the cause, then fix it or escalate it. Write up what happened so it does not happen twice. Share the on-call rota for hardware and server faults. - iDRAC & out-of-band management - Configure iDRAC and keep management access tidy and documented. Use it to diagnose and recover servers remotely. - Hardware faults - Diagnose failed disks, DIMMs, PSUs, fans, NICs and boards. Collect logs and swap parts. Open Dell support cases and chase them to a fix. - Network & firewall changes - Make day-to-day changes on our Dell switches. Move a port to a VLAN, change port speeds, set up port channels or reconfigure the LAN when needed. Make light changes on our edge gateways (rules and port forwards) under the agreed change process. Work within the existing design rather than redesign it. - Storage - Make changes on our SAN and the servers attached to it: LUNs, iSCSI, multipath, disk health and capacity management. - Racking & cabling - Rack, stack and cable new servers in copper and fibre to a clean, labelled standard. - Documentation - Keep the asset register, rack diagrams, cabling records and runbooks accurate. Skills & Experience - 3+ years of professional experience as a server, systems or infrastructure engineer - Hands-on experience with Dell PowerEdge servers: iDRAC, Lifecycle Controller, BIOS setup, firmware updates and hardware diagnostics - Linux administration on Ubuntu or Debian: OS installs, package updates, systemd, logs and basic shell scripting - Experience running maintenance windows on production servers. You check before you reboot - Experience with monitoring and logging tools (e.g. Prometheus, Grafana, Loki, ELK or similar) - Confidence making network changes at a switch command line: VLANs, trunks, LACP and port speeds - Confidence making storage changes: SAN, iSCSI, RAID and multipath - Racking and cabling to a professional standard, including fibre and optics - A methodical approach to troubleshooting. You change one thing at a time and write down what you find - Comfortable using AI-assisted development tools (e.g. Claude Code, Codex) as part of your daily workflow - A clear and concise communicator with engineers, datacentre staff and vendor support Nice to Have - Dell Technologies Proven Professional certifications (the successors to the old DCSE), such as PowerEdge Operate (D-PE-OE-01), PowerEdge Foundations (D-PE-FN-01), Enterprise SONiC Deploy (D-SNC-DY-00) or the PowerVault ME5 Achievement (D-PV-DY-A-00) - Dell Enterprise SONiC or other Dell switching - Dell PowerVault ME-series storage - Automation with Ansible, racadm or the Redfish API - CompTIA Server+, CompTIA Network+, CCNA or a similar certification - Experience with GPU servers or high-density, high-power racks - A full clean driving licence and your own car Education & Qualifications - A relevant technical qualification OR equivalent practical experience. We care more about what you have built, fixed and kept running. Remuneration - Highly competitive package, dependent on experience - 25 days paid annual leave - Hybrid working from our centrally located Dublin office, with remote flexibility - Datacentre visits as needed - Free inference tokens! ******* NO AGENCY ASSISTANCE REQUIRED *******
