Marketing Store Decore Lead (Temporary)

Overview Pet Supplies Plus (PSP) has a temporary opportunity for a Marketing Store Décor Vendor Transition Lead. This is a temporary position with an anticipated duration of 2-4 months to transition the team to a new vendor. Engagement Overview Timing: Beginning in late October; end date flexible, with the potential to continue through the end of Q1 2027. Capacity: Approximately 20–25 hours per week. Reporting and location: Reports to Laurie Genzlinger. The role will be primarily remote; a working session at Pet Supplies Plus and/or Vomela’s Michigan offices may be helpful. Primary objective: Lead a successful transition to Vomela as the store décor vendor, ensuring key milestones are met, risks are addressed, and internal teams and the vendor are aligned and accountable. Process assessment and optimization are a secondary priority. Decision authority: The contractor is empowered to drive day-to-day decisions within the approved transition plan, escalate material risks or tradeoffs to Laurie Genzlinger, and hold internal teams and Vomela accountable for agreed actions and deadlines. Responsibilities/Qualifications Responsibilities - Lead the store décor vendor transition - Manage an integrated transition plan with clear milestones, owners, dependencies, risks, and decision points. - Coordinate internal teams, Vomela (new vendor) and Imagine Group (old vendor) to ensure commitments are clear, issues are resolved, and deadlines are met. - Lead the inventory transition, including alignment on inventory disposition, transfer timing, ownership, and issue resolution. - Coordinate the launch of the new order portals for both Pet Supplies Plus and Wag N Wash with Vomela - Oversee initial projects with Vomela to validate readiness, quality, timing, and ways of working. - Partner with the marketing team to develop and execute a clear stakeholder communication plan. - Maintain a decision and risk log, resolve issues within the contractor’s authority, and promptly escalate material risks or tradeoffs to Laurie Genzlinger. - Assess and optimize the new store setup process (store décor focus) - Review and document the current process, roles, handoffs, timelines, and decision rights. - Engage key stakeholders to identify pain points, ownership gaps, and opportunities to improve speed, clarity, and execution. - Recommend a practical future-state process and ways of working across the creative team, construction team, Vomela, stores, and franchise owners. Required Deliverables - Vendor transition plan and milestone tracker with owners, timing, dependencies, risks, decisions, and status. - Inventory transition plan documenting responsibilities, timing, disposition decisions, and open issues. - Initial project readiness and performance review capturing lessons learned, corrective actions, and implications for future work. - Stakeholder communication plan identifying audiences, key messages, timing, and owners. - Current-state process map and gap assessment for new store setup. - Future-state process recommendation, including roles and decision rights, key handoffs, governance, and an implementation roadmap. - Weekly status update summarizing progress, upcoming milestones, decisions needed, risks, and actions. - Final transition summary documenting completed work, outstanding items, owners, and recommended next steps. Optional Work, If Capacity Allows - Support implementation and adoption of the improved new store setup process. - Oversee two new store initiatives: the new “bug” fixture design and the store-within-a-store concept and design.
