Linux Infrastructure Engineer | Financial Markets Technology | Hedge Fund London | Competitive base salary + performance-related buy side bonus Linux | Python | Automation | Networking | Observability | Performance Engineering The Role: This is an infrastructure engineering role within a technology-led investment business where the Linux estate sits close to live markets and directly supports business-critical systems. You will take meaningful ownership of platform design, automation and performance. The environment is large-scale, technically demanding and built for engineers who prefer improving the platform over repeatedly fixing the same operational problems. What You Will Be Doing: - Engineer and improve Linux platforms supporting time-sensitive financial systems. - Build automation that makes infrastructure deployment, configuration and maintenance more consistent. - Investigate performance across operating systems, networks and applications, then implement practical improvements. - Strengthen monitoring and observability so issues can be identified before they become business problems. - Work closely with software engineering and operational teams on platform reliability, releases and production change. - Influence technical direction, engineering standards and the longer-term development of the estate. What You Bring: - Strong Linux engineering knowledge, ideally gained in a large-scale or performance-sensitive environment. - Hands-on ability with infrastructure automation and configuration management. - Good Python and shell scripting skills, with the judgement to use code rather than manual processes. - A solid understanding of networking fundamentals, including how systems behave under demanding traffic and latency conditions. - Experience investigating system performance, reliability or capacity issues across more than one layer of the stack. - A collaborative engineering approach, including source control, peer review and clear technical communication.
