Description
Self-employed | Commission-only | Local field sales territory | €100K + potential
About the role
We’re looking for experienced field salespeople who are comfortable walking into a business, starting a conversation with the owner and winning a new merchant..
As a self-employed Field Sales Consultant, you’ll sell SumUp’s payment, POS and software solutions to small and medium-sized businesses in your local area. You’ll find your own prospects, manage your pipeline and support customers as they get started.
You’ll need experience in cold prospecting and the commitment to spend time out in your territory each week. You’ll manage your own activity, with training and support from SumUp.
What you’ll be doing
- Find new customers through face-to-face visits, door-to-door prospecting and direct outreach.
- Focus on local businesses with strong payment volumes that would benefit from SumUp’s products.
- Ask questions about how each business works and recommend suitable payment, card-processing, hardware, POS and software solutions.
- Manage the sale from the first conversation through product demonstrations, objections and closing.
- Help customers get set up and start using their SumUp products.
- Build relationships with business owners and ask satisfied customers for referrals.
- Plan your visits and follow-ups to make good use of your time in the territory.
- Keep your CRM records up to date and track your activity, pipeline and sales results.
- Review progress with your Territory Manager and put feedback into practice.
What we’re looking for
Essential
- At least one year of field sales experience within sectors such as telecoms, energy, business technology, waste management, security systems or food and beverage supply
- Cold prospecting experience, including approaching businesses face to face and finding your own leads.
- Experience selling to small and medium sized businesses and dealing directly with owners or decision makers.
- A track record of winning new customers and meeting sales targets. We’ll ask you for examples of what you’ve achieved and how.
- The ability to manage a sale from the first approach to closing, including handling questions and objections.
- Good organisation and consistent follow up.
- The ability to handle rejection, learn from feedback and keep going.
- An understanding of self employment and a willingness to commit the time needed to build your customer base.
- A base location within easy reach of your agreed territory so you can meet prospects and customers regularly.
Desirable
- An existing network of local business owners who could benefit from SumUp’s products.
- Experience in payments, merchant services, POS or EPOS.
Phone sales experience is useful, but you must also have sold face to face in the field.
Earnings
This is a self-employed, commission-only opportunity with no basic salary. Earnings are uncapped and depend on your individual sales performance.
The commission package supplied for this draft includes:
- Payments: 50% of annualised payments net revenue.
- Hardware: 50% of hardware revenue.
- Software: 50% of annual software revenue.
- Residual income: 25% of SumUp net revenue, paid monthly for up to five years.
- New-partner incentive: three times the usual residual earnings during the first three months.
- Additional milestone bonuses.
Training and support
We’ll help you get to know the products and how to sell them, with onboarding and ongoing support covering prospecting, sales conversations, demonstrations, objections and customer onboarding.
