A leading global hedge fund is hiring a senior platform engineer to own the design, build and operation of its cloud platform, working directly with technologists across infrastructure, engineering, data science and trading technology to ensure the foundation supports business-critical workloads at scale. This is a hands-on technical role with genuine autonomy. You'll architect multi-account cloud infrastructure, establish governance and security baselines, engineer hybrid connectivity, and provide operational support for data analytics and AI workloads, all while progressively taking ownership from external partners. You'll shape how cloud is used across the firm rather than inherit constraints. Key Responsibilities: - Design, build and operate cloud infrastructure at scale: multi-account architecture, identity systems, network design, security controls and governance frameworks - Develop infrastructure-as-code artifacts using modern declarative tools; establish CI/CD automation and policy enforcement - Engineer and operate hybrid cloud networking, identity federation, privileged access workflows and data protection controls - Own cloud cost optimization, system reliability and production readiness across data-heavy and AI workloads - Collaborate with engineering, data science and platform teams to identify risks, set technical standards and drive infrastructure improvements - Take ownership of cloud architecture, governance strategy and platform evolution across critical business systems - Drive the transition of cloud operations from external vendor to internal ownership Technical Requirements: - 10+ years designing and operating cloud infrastructure at scale, including multi-account strategy, identity systems, network architecture and security controls - Expert-level knowledge of Azure identity and access management: Entra ID, role-based access, privileged workflows, MFA and workload identities - Real hands-on experience with hybrid and cloud networking: private circuits, virtual networks, DNS, segmentation and egress controls - Production experience maintaining infrastructure-as-code using modern declarative tools; comfortable scripting in Python, PowerShell and Bash - Strong practical experience implementing cloud governance, policy automation, compliance tracking and AI/ML security governance - Security-focused engineering mindset: designing for least privilege, audit trails and sensitive data protection - Track record optimising cloud consumption and reliability, with exposure to enterprise data platforms and analytics workloads My client offers an excellent compensation package, including a highly competitive base salary, performance-related compensation with participation in fund performance, and a comprehensive benefits package.
