Description
About CookUnity:
Food has lost its soul to modern convenience. And with it, it has lost the power to nourish, inspire, and connect us. So in 2018, CookUnity was founded as the first-of-its-kind platform that connects the world with the source of truly great food: chefs. Today, CookUnity delivers 50 million meals a year from the industry’s best chefs to homes all over the country. Fresh. Ready-to-eat. And crafted with the passion that nourishes body and soul.
Unwilling to stop there, CookUnity is expanding beyond delivery to become an ever-innovating marketplace focused on our singular mission: empower Chefs to nourish the world.
If that mission has you hungry in more ways than one, you’ve found the right job posting.
About Cookin
Cookin (a CookUnity company) is revolutionizing the food industry by empowering food entrepreneurs to sell their creations online. We democratize access to tools that were previously only available to established restaurants, creating opportunities for culinary talent everywhere.
The Opportunity
We are building Off Menu, the next evolution of Cookin, and are looking for a highly entrepreneurial leader to operate as its GM and founder inside CookUnity.
This is not a traditional product role. It combines general management, product building, teaming with sales, and customer leadership in pursuit of product-market fit. You will own the business journey from an ambiguous problem to a product and business that restaurants adopt, pay for, and continue using.
Working with a small pod of 1-2 engineers, an experienced salesperson, and an operations teammate, you will have the autonomy to build from the ground up with the backing of a late-stage, rapidly growing, and established company.
Key Responsibilities
- Build the business from 0→1: Lead Off Menu from customer discovery and prototype through launch, iteration, and meaningful commercial adoption.
- Own product and go-to-market: Define the target customer, value proposition, positioning, pricing, messaging, distribution, and product roadmap.
- Win the first customers: Work directly with restaurants and our sales person to pitch the product, handle objections, close early partners, and refine the product proposition based on what you learn.
- Own business performance: Drive revenue, GMV, CAC, activation, retention, payback, contribution margin, unit economics, and overall P&L outcomes.
- Build hands-on: Conduct your own research, interrogate data, create prototypes with AI tools, write requirements, and work directly with engineers.
- Manage marketplace dynamics: Balance supply, demand, product experience, operations, and economics across a multi-sided business.
- Create clarity from ambiguity: Establish priorities and move quickly without an existing playbook.
- Lead with visibility: Communicate strategy, progress, risks, and results clearly to senior Cookin leadership.
Required Qualifications
- Demonstrated ownership of taking a product or business from zero to meaningful commercial adoption in a real market.
- Direct experience acquiring first customers of something you helped build.
- Experience owning both product and go-to-market decisions, including customer segmentation, positioning, distribution, and retention.
- Strong commercial fluency across revenue, GMV, CAC, LTV, payback, contribution margin, and unit economics.
- Founder, founding product leader/GM, or high-agency early employee who helped build and scale a business or internal venture without an established playbook.
- Experience building or selling for B2B customers, SMBs, merchants, creators, or independent operators.
- Highly hands-on approach to customer research, data analysis, prototyping, requirements, and execution.
- Practical AI fluency and experience using AI to prototype, analyze data, automate workflows, or accelerate development.
- Strong technical judgment and ability to work directly with engineers.
- Excellent executive communication, high agency, and comfort with ambiguity.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience in restaurants, hospitality, food tech, e-commerce, or local commerce
- Experience selling or building for restaurant operators
- Experience with multi-sided marketplaces and merchant acquisition
- Experience launching AI-enabled products
What Sets You Apart
- You think about product and distribution at the same time.
- You have heard "no" from customers, changed the proposition, and gone back out to sell again.
- You can point to concrete commercial outcomes from something you personally built.
- You thrive on tiny teams, limited resources, and problems without a clear owner.
- You want to build a meaningful business, not simply ship a good product.
What We Offer
- The autonomy and breadth of a founder type role with the backing of CookUnity
- Direct visibility and impact at the executive level
- The opportunity to build a new business from the ground up
- A small, fast-moving team where your work will have immediate impact
- A mission-driven environment focused on helping food entrepreneurs thrive

A quick note for all candidates
We’ve recently seen an increase in recruitment scams across the industry, and we want to make sure you (and your data) stay safe while applying to CookUnity. We also want you to know that we take this seriously — sometimes, as part of our process, we may ask for a brief “proof of humanity” to confirm that we’re connecting with a real person, not an impersonator. Here are a few tips to help you protect yourself and know what to expect from us:
- Apply only through our official channels. All open roles are listed on our official careers page: careers.cookunity.com
- Our recruiters are real people — and easy to verify. You can always find them on LinkedIn with verified profiles. If you’re unsure, feel free to reach out to us on our official LinkedIn Company Page.
- We only communicate through official CookUnity channels. That means emails ending in @cookunity.com and interviews held through official company platforms (Google Meet or Zoom) — never WhatsApp, Telegram, or SMS.
- We’ll never ask for payment or personal financial details. If anyone does, please don’t share any information and let us know right away.
If something ever feels off or you’re unsure about a message, we’d much rather you double-check with us. You can always contact us directly through any of our social media channels.
