Description

Location: Remote (Requires daily core overlap from 4:00 PM to 7:00 PM Belgrade time) Employment Type: Full-Time We operate a comprehensive, mission-critical data pipeline trusted and utilized by major banks across the United States. We are looking for an experienced Lead DevOps Engineer to direct our DevOps team, modernize our cloud infrastructure, and take full architectural ownership of our deployment ecosystem. The Role As the Lead DevOps Engineer, you will serve as the hands-on technical lead for our DevOps engineering team. You will drive our cloud modernization initiatives: moving away from legacy build systems, migrating container runtimes to Kubernetes, and establishing self-service infrastructure patterns across AWS. Key Responsibilities - Team Leadership: Lead, mentor, and direct the daily technical work of the DevOps engineering team, setting technical benchmarks and best practices. - CI/CD Modernization: Lead the architectural overhaul and hands-on migration of legacy pipelines from TeamCity to modern workflows using AWS CodePipeline and GitHub Actions. - Compute Modernization: Architect and execute migrations from AWS ECS to AWS EKS, optimizing compute performance, scalability, and cost efficiency across our AWS environment. - Terraform as a Service: Design, implement, and maintain internal "Terraform as a Service" workflows and reusable modules to provide frictionless self-service infrastructure for development teams. - Deployment Optimization: Design, configure, and maintain robust deployment strategies (e.g., blue/green, canary) ensuring zero-downtime releases and high availability for our enterprise banking clients. - Cross-Functional Alignment: Work alongside software engineering and data teams to optimize deployment workflows and support high-throughput data processing pipelines. Required Qualifications - AWS Experience: Minimum 5+ years of hands-on, in-depth experience managing and architecting infrastructure within AWS (EKS, ECS, EC2, VPC, IAM, RDS, CloudWatch, etc.). - Leadership Experience: Minimum 3+ years of proven experience acting as a Tech Lead, managing and guiding a DevOps, Platform, or SRE team. - Infrastructure as Code: Advanced production experience with Terraform, specifically architecting modular infrastructure and self-service platform capabilities. - Container Orchestration: Deep expertise with AWS EKS (Kubernetes) in production, with demonstrable experience migrating workloads from AWS ECS to EKS. - CI/CD Tooling: Extensive track record building, maintaining, and migrating pipelines from legacy tools like TeamCity to GitHub Actions and AWS CodePipeline. - Timezone Availability: Daily working overlap between 4:00 PM and 7:00 PM Belgrade time (CET/CEST). Nice-to-Haves - Experience supporting high-volume, enterprise-grade data pipelines or data streaming platforms. - Familiarity with financial sector security, governance, and compliance standards. - Hands-on experience with GitOps methodologies and tooling (e.g., ArgoCD). - Strong scripting and automation capabilities in Python, Go, or Bash. What We Offer - Complete Tech Stack Ownership: The autonomy, authority, and mandate to retire legacy tooling, migrate to the latest cloud-native technologies, and shape our long-term DevOps roadmap. - High-Impact Engineering: Direct technical influence over a platform powering core operations for top-tier US financial institutions. - Remote Flexibility: Fully remote setup with targeted, predictable overlap hours.
