Description

Indigo is hiring a Partner Support Manager to work directly with the progressive campaigns and organizations using Matchbook, our data platform for organizing. OUR MISSION We believe that progressive campaigns focused on building sustained, authentic relationships with voters – rooted in voters’ material needs – are the key to systemic change in our country. In this moment of democratic backsliding and rising inequality, it’s particularly urgent that we deliver that kind of change. To that end, we're building software and data products to help Democratic campaigns and progressive organizations run voter outreach programs that are genuinely responsive to people's needs and rooted in local communities. WHAT IS INDIGO? We build software and data products for Democratic campaigns and progressive advocacy organizations. We're a small team with a culture of autonomy, consistently challenging and varied work, and concrete opportunities for major impact. At the same time, our company has built partnerships with major organizations, allowing us to avoid the financial anxiety and growing pains that many similarly-sized startups face. It's a pretty great situation! WHAT IS MATCHBOOK? Matchbook is a voter and campaign organizing platform for progressive campaigns, state parties, and advocacy organizations, built in partnership with the DNC. Campaign data usually lives in pieces: voter contact in one tool, volunteers in another, fundraising somewhere else. Matchbook pulls those pieces into one place, matches them against the voter file, and turns those campaign interactions into lookalike audiences and predictive models in a few clicks. Over the next year, Matchbook goes in front of a new wave of campaigns and state parties. You’ll be the second member of the Partnerships team, working closely with the Head of Partnerships to train and support the next group of organizing and data staff, and to build the systems that make it all work at scale. OUR PRINCIPLES We have an opinion. Our products are strictly for Democratic campaigns and progressive organizations, and they're designed to help those users run substantively better programs and win more elections. We believe in mutual respect. We've been lucky to build a team that consistently demonstrates kindness, humility, and integrity – toward each other and our users. Maintaining that culture is critical to delivering on our goals. We value diversity. We'll need to collectively bring a range of lived experiences and backgrounds to meet the needs of the candidates and advocacy organizations we intend to serve. We run a disciplined and focused operation. We aim to establish a business that's financially sustainable and whose products and roadmap are fully aligned with our mission. We believe in the power of a small but mighty team. A group of passionate, independent, multi-talented builders can have more impact than much larger teams. THE ROLE The person in this role will develop training and support materials for our users. This includes: - Building out Matchbook's training curriculum with the Head of Partnerships for in-person sessions, virtual trainings, and standing office hours - Designing role-specific onboarding paths. (A state data director and a first-time field organizer need very different starting points.) - Running live trainings, from one-on-one onboarding calls to full-team sessions - Developing self-serve material people can use without you in the room, including recorded walkthroughs, quick-start guides, and cheat sheets. - Working with users to develop a “train-the-trainer” curriculum and associated materials. This person will also offer ongoing support to our users. This includes: - Sharing the day-to-day support load with other team members: triaging questions, unblocking users, and escalating bugs to our engineering team. - Making ongoing updates to our user-facing knowledge base. - Tracking what users keep getting stuck on, and turning that into better docs, better training resources, and ideas for product improvements. - Staying ahead of a fast-moving product roadmap: understanding and communicating with users about new features and having training docs ready when changes go live. QUALIFICATIONS We are open to motivated candidates from a range of professional backgrounds. But ideally, applicants will have: - Some experience in political organizing. This could be from a political campaign, a local issue campaign, or anything in between. You could have been a paid organizer, a volunteer, a data director, a fundraiser, or any number of other roles. What matters most is that you would come to this work with the context necessary to support our users. - Flexibility. You’ll support highly technical users and absolute beginners on the same day. You’ll train people with a range of roles, skills, and backgrounds. We’re hoping to find a teammate who would enjoy the diversity of support needs our users have. - A collaborative spirit. We are a small team and we often end up working closely with each other across each other’s areas of expertise. While not required, we would also like you to have basic knowledge of SQL (or at least enough comfort with data to help users build a list, clean a file, or interpret a predictive model), a working sense of how product development happens (i.e., turning a user's need into something the product can do), and experience with a learning management system, knowledge base platform, or help desk tool. REMOTE ENVIRONMENT Indigo is a remote organization with team members distributed around the United States. We'll hire the best people from anywhere in the country and support a remote working environment that's flexible, transparent, and trusting. COMPENSATION The salary range for this role is $140,000 - $160,000 per year. BENEFITS - Indigo covers 100% of health, dental, and vision coverage for employees and 80% for dependents - Employer-provided long-term disability and life insurance - 21 days of paid time off plus federal holidays - Unlimited sick leave - 16 weeks paid parental leave for parents of any gender, including adoptive parents - 401(K) match with immediate vesting ADDITIONAL CONSIDERATIONS We're generally looking for candidates with: - Demonstrated interest in and passion for progressive politics: we’re all here because we care deeply about our country and we believe that our work will play a critical role in the fight to defend democracy. - Meaningful experience in political organizing or organizing-adjacent work. - A track record of designing easy-to-understand materials to explain complex topics. - Excellent oral and written communication skills. - High emotional intelligence and empathy: the mutual respect and honesty underlying our relationships is our team’s greatest asset. - Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, startup-like environment: we work reasonable hours and maintain a healthy work/life balance, but also operate with urgency given the stakes of our users’ success. Salary: $140,000 – $160,000 / year Originally posted on Himalayas
