Back-End Developer (PHP / Laravel) – AI-first | Healthtech | Utrecht The short version A growing healthtech company is looking for a back-end developer who builds with Laravel, and who sees AI as part of the toolbox rather than a buzzword. Where you'll make an impact Our client develops software that makes healthcare processes simpler, safer and more efficient. The platform is used every day by professionals in the field, so quality and reliability really matter. The team is small, informal and hands-on: short lines, no layers of management, and plenty of room to shape how things are built. What you'll be doing - Building and improving the core platform, with a focus on Laravel back-end services and APIs - Working closely with front-end developers to deliver features that work seamlessly end-to-end - Working AI-first: using tools like Claude Code, Cursor or Copilot in your daily workflow, and helping the team get the most out of them - Thinking along on architecture, scalability and performance, from database design to deployment - Reviewing code, sharing knowledge and raising the technical bar for the team - Working closely with product, design and external partners to turn ideas into working software What you bring - Senior-level experience (5+ years) as a back-end developer - In-depth knowledge of PHP and Laravel, plus solid MySQL skills - Experience designing and maintaining RESTful APIs - An AI-first mindset: you already use AI tools in your development work and are curious about what's next - Comfortable with Git, CI/CD and modern deployment practices - Fluent in English (the working language); Dutch is a plus, not a requirement Bonus points for - Experience with Vue.js - Experience with Docker and/or Kubernetes - Affinity with or experience in healthcare or other regulated sectors What's in it for you - A salary up to €6,000 gross per month, depending on experience - Lots of flexibility: work mostly from home, with regular team days at the office in central Netherlands - A solid pension plan, travel allowance and a personal training budget - Meaningful work on a product that improves healthcare - A senior role with real influence on technology and direction
