Software Development Manager
Location: West of Ireland
Working Model: Hybrid — 2 days per week in the office
Salary: €80,000–€100,000 per annum, depending on experience
About the Role
We are seeking a Software Development Manager with strong people leadership skills and a passion for developing high-performing engineering teams. You will own software delivery, strengthen engineering standards and promote quality, secure development and continuous improvement.
This role suits someone with a software development background, a supportive leadership style and an interest in AI and innovation. Candidates from any programming language or coding background are welcome.
Key Responsibilities
- People leadership and development: Lead, coach and mentor engineers, supporting career progression, performance and team engagement.
- Delivery ownership: Own delivery commitments, managing priorities, dependencies and risks alongside Product and other stakeholders.
- Engineering standards: Champion sound architecture, maintainable code, code reviews and consistent development practices.
- Quality engineering: Embed automated testing and quality throughout the development lifecycle to improve reliability and reduce defects.
- Agile delivery: Support effective Agile practices, remove blockers and help teams continuously improve.
- Secure development: Promote secure coding, security testing and development best practices.
- AI and innovation: Identify practical opportunities to use AI, automation and new technologies to improve products and engineering productivity.
- Technical collaboration: Guide discussions on APIs, Azure cloud services, distributed systems and DevOps practices.
Skills and Experience
- 7+ years’ experience in software development, including 3+ years leading engineering teams.
- Proven experience coaching engineers, managing performance and building collaborative teams.
- A track record of owning software delivery and balancing speed, quality and technical priorities.
- Experience with APIs, cloud platforms—ideally Microsoft Azure—and distributed systems.
- Strong understanding of DevOps, CI/CD, automated testing and secure development practices.
- Experience working in Agile environments and driving continuous improvement.
- An interest in applying AI and innovation to software development.
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
