Data Engineer - Is that you?
Location: Lisbon (Hybrid) Experience Level: Senior Language: English (minimum B2)
Key Responsibilities
- Design, build, and maintain scalable data pipelines and data products that support AI, analytics, reporting, and business operations.
- Develop and optimize ETL/ELT processes to ingest, transform, and deliver data from multiple enterprise sources into cloud-based platforms.
- Implement data quality frameworks, monitoring, lineage, and governance controls to ensure reliable and trusted datasets.
- Collaborate with AI Engineers, Data Scientists, business stakeholders, and IT teams to translate requirements into efficient data solutions.
- Build and support integrations between cloud platforms, APIs, operational systems, and analytical environments.
- Create and maintain data models, analytical layers, and reusable datasets that enable self-service analytics and AI initiatives.
- Continuously improve data platform performance, scalability, security, and operational efficiency through automation and best practices.
Required Skills & Experience
- 5+ years of experience as a Data Engineer or in a similar data-focused role.
- Strong expertise in Python and SQL for data processing, transformation, and optimization.
- Proven experience designing and implementing ETL/ELT pipelines in enterprise environments.
- Hands-on experience with cloud-based data engineering, preferably on Microsoft Azure, with exposure to AWS considered valuable.
- Experience working with Snowflake or similar modern cloud data warehouse technologies.
- Strong knowledge of data modelling, warehousing concepts, and data architecture best practices.
- Experience with data orchestration, scheduling, and workflow management solutions.
- Understanding of data governance, metadata management, security, access control, and compliance requirements.
- Experience implementing data quality, observability, and monitoring practices across production environments.
- Ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams, including Data Science, AI Engineering, Product, and Business stakeholders.
- Familiarity with REST APIs, data integrations, and enterprise system connectivity patterns.
- Comfortable using GenAI productivity tools such as GitHub Copilot, Cursor, or similar solutions.
Nice to Have
- Experience with Databricks, Apache Spark, AWS Glue, or similar large-scale data processing technologies.
- Knowledge of Apache Iceberg, Delta Lake, or modern table formats for data lake architectures.
- Experience working with logistics, transportation, parcel delivery, customer, sales, or operational datasets.
- Exposure to AI and GenAI data preparation, feature engineering, vector databases, or retrieval-augmented generation (RAG) pipelines.
- Experience with infrastructure automation, CI/CD pipelines, and DataOps practices.
- Knowledge of containerization technologies such as Docker and cloud-native deployment patterns.
- Experience in international or multi-country enterprise environments.
- Relevant cloud or data certifications from Microsoft, AWS, Snowflake, or Databricks.
