Senior DevOps Programme Manager Location: UK (Hybrid) Industry: Insurance Employment Type: Permanent / Fixed Term Contract Lead Enterprise DevOps Transformation for a Major Insurance Organisation We are looking for a highly experienced Senior DevOps Programme Manager to lead the strategy, operations, and transformation of a large-scale enterprise DevOps and Cloud function for one of our flagship insurance clients. This is a high-impact leadership role with responsibility for the end-to-end DevOps operating model across a complex technology estate. You will lead internal engineering teams, govern strategic vendor partnerships, drive operational excellence, and shape the future direction of cloud and DevOps capabilities across the organisation. Working closely with senior technology and business stakeholders, you will play a critical role in modernising platforms, improving service performance, accelerating automation, and supporting the delivery of major cloud transformation initiatives. What You'll Be Doing - Lead the end-to-end DevOps and Cloud Operations function across a large enterprise environment. - Own and evolve the DevOps operating model, ensuring effective collaboration between internal teams and external suppliers. - Drive service excellence across platform availability, reliability, resilience, security, and performance. - Define and execute strategic DevOps initiatives, including CI/CD optimisation, automation, cloud adoption, infrastructure modernisation, and operational transformation. - Establish robust governance, operational controls, service management processes, and performance metrics. - Manage strategic supplier relationships, ensuring accountability, service quality, commercial alignment, and delivery outcomes. - Act as the senior escalation and engagement point for technology executives, business leaders, and key stakeholders. - Lead and develop high-performing engineering and operations teams, creating a culture of continuous improvement and innovation. - Oversee capacity planning, workforce strategy, and future capability development. - Ensure compliance with security, regulatory, risk, and operational requirements within a highly regulated environment. - Support enterprise-wide transformation and cloud migration programmes while driving efficiency and operational maturity. What We're Looking For Essential Experience - Significant experience leading large-scale DevOps, Cloud Operations, Platform Engineering, or Infrastructure functions within complex enterprise organisations. - Proven track record delivering DevOps transformation programmes and operational excellence initiatives. - Strong leadership experience managing both internal technical teams and large-scale third-party service providers. - Experience owning operational governance, service performance, vendor management, and executive stakeholder engagement. - Strong understanding of Agile delivery, DevOps practices, CI/CD pipelines, automation, SRE principles, and cloud operating models. - Experience managing budgets, resource planning, organisational change, and strategic technology roadmaps. - Exceptional communication and stakeholder management skills with the ability to influence at executive level. Preferred Experience - Experience within Insurance, Financial Services, Banking, or other regulated industries. - Knowledge of public cloud platforms such as Azure, AWS, or Google Cloud. - Experience driving cloud migration, platform modernisation, and enterprise transformation programmes. - Familiarity with ITIL, service management, security, and operational risk frameworks.
