CTO of Transformation / Technology Transformation Leader

📍 About the Role : Our client is launching a new phase of technology transformation across its applications, platforms and engineering teams, and is looking for a senior technology leader to drive it. You will set the technical direction, move legacy estates toward modern cloud-native architectures, and bring new capabilities such as Generative and Agentic AI into enterprise reality. This is a role for someone who can design the target architecture, explain it to an executive committee, and help teams deliver it. 📍 Location: Madrid 📅 Start date: ASAP 💼 Industry: Consulting 🌍 Language: English C1 or above 🎯 Mission : - Own the technology vision: define and maintain target architectures, and build technology roadmaps aligned with business strategy. - Turn business needs into solutions: translate business requirements into viable, sustainable solutions, then design and validate application, integration and data architectures. - Lead modernization: drive transformation programs, and guide the move from legacy environments to modern, cloud-native architectures. - Bring in new capabilities: champion new technologies, methodologies and best practices, including AI adoption, and spot opportunities for automation, efficiency and innovation. - Support the teams on the ground: work alongside development, architecture and operations teams during implementation, and grow their technical skills. - Act as the technical reference: sit on architecture and technology governance bodies, work with business, security and operations leaders to keep one integrated view of the transformation, and represent the technical voice with clients, partners and internal teams. 🛠️ Technical Environment : Architecture and development: Java, Spring Boot, microservices, distributed architectures, hexagonal architecture, event-driven architecture, Domain Driven Design (DDD) Integration: API design and management, Kafka and messaging platforms, ESB and integration flows Platform and DevOps: Docker, Kubernetes, deployment automation, DevOps and DevSecOps, development platform governance, Platform Engineering AI: Generative AI, Agentic AI architectures, RAG (Retrieval Augmented Generation), enterprise AI governance and adoption Other: Enterprise Architecture, tokenization and digital assets ✅ Required Skills : Must have: - 10+ years in software development and architecture - Strong Java and Spring Boot background - Hands-on design of microservices, distributed, hexagonal and event-driven architectures, with DDD - API design and management, Kafka, application integration (ESB, integration flows) - Docker, Kubernetes, deployment automation, DevOps and DevSecOps - Proven track record leading modernization and transformation programs in complex enterprise environments - Practical knowledge of Generative AI, Agentic AI architectures and RAG, and of enterprise AI governance and adoption - English C1 or above Nice to have: - Enterprise Architecture frameworks and practice - Platform Engineering and development platform governance - Tokenization and digital assets 🤝 Soft Skills & Profile - Leadership and influence: you bring people along without needing formal authority over them. - Strategic thinking and a global view, with the ability to connect business and technology and to make decisions in complex environments. - Executive communication, facilitation and negotiation skills, comfortable building consensus across multidisciplinary teams. - Change driven and innovation minded, with a strong focus on results.
