Head of Technology Transformation London, Hybrid. £120-170k base + bonus and benefits. A major UK financial services organisation is looking for a senior technology leader to drive its next phase of transformation. This is a newly created role sitting within the CTO leadership team, with responsibility for shaping cloud strategy, building platform engineering capability and leading the evolution of the modern workplace. You'll own the technology strategy that connects Azure, Microsoft 365, Copilot, workplace technology and engineering platforms into a single operating model. The environment is complex. There is a significant legacy estate, multiple technology delivery models and an ambitious roadmap that includes cloud adoption, platform engineering, workplace modernisation and AI-enabled productivity. This role is not simply about infrastructure transformation. It's about improving how technology is delivered across the organisation while also improving the day-to-day experience of thousands of employees. What You'll Be Doing - Defining enterprise cloud strategy and architecture - Building a platform engineering capability from the ground up - Leading Microsoft 365, workplace technology and collaboration services - Driving Copilot and AI adoption across the business - Establishing engineering standards, governance and best practice - Simplifying a complex technology estate - Leading strategic technology suppliers and partners - Working closely with executive stakeholders to shape future technology investment Current State - Large application estate - Legacy infrastructure dependencies - Multiple support and delivery models - Growing demand for automation and AI - Inconsistent technology standards Future State - Cloud-first operating model - Platform engineering-based delivery - Modern Microsoft-powered workplace - Greater automation and self-service - Reduced technical debt - Enterprise-scale AI adoption - Simpler, more resilient technology services Candidate profile - Led large-scale technology transformation programmes - Built or scaled platform engineering functions - Strong Azure and Microsoft technology expertise - Modern workplace and Microsoft 365 leadership experience - Experience operating in regulated environments - Managed strategic technology partners and suppliers - Credibility with both engineers and executive stakeholders Mandatory Skillset - Significant leadership experience delivering cloud transformation, platform engineering, or enterprise infrastructure programmes - Deep expertise across Microsoft technologies, including Azure and Microsoft 365 - A proven track record of leading large-scale Azure transformation initiatives - Strong experience in modern workplace strategy, end-user technology and Microsoft 365 services - Experience establishing, scaling and maturing platform engineering capabilities - A successful track record delivering complex enterprise-wide transformation programmes - Experience operating within regulated environments - Strong supplier and partner management capability, including working with strategic technology vendors and managed service providers - Ability to influence senior stakeholders and drive change across large, complex organisations
