Description

Position: Chief Technology Officer (CTO) Location: Sofia, Bulgaria Compensation: Competitive salary plus benefits Overview Gateworth Group is partnering with a global investment management company looking to hire a CTO for the Bulgaria office. They are appointing a CTO to take full ownership of technology across the platform, shaping how digital systems, operational technology, and enterprise infrastructure support project delivery, asset performance, and long‑term operations. The role blends OT for physical assets with IT for a multi‑country corporate environment, and requires a leader capable of building a modern, integrated technology function from the ground up. Main Responsibilities • Set the long‑term technology vision and translate it into a practical roadmap that supports project execution, asset reliability, and organisational growth • Lead digital modernisation across the platform, introducing automation, analytics, and AI where they materially improve operational efficiency and decision‑making • Oversee technology used within physical assets — including control systems, monitoring platforms, IoT devices, and digital‑twin environments • Build enterprise systems and infrastructure that support finance, HR, collaboration, and reporting across multiple jurisdictions • Establish a unified approach to data architecture, governance, and connectivity between headquarters and regional operating hubs • Design and enforce cybersecurity standards suitable for high‑governance, critical‑infrastructure environments • Partner with engineering, construction, and operations teams to embed technology into asset design, commissioning, and long‑term operations • Develop and lead a lean, high‑impact technology organisation, providing direction to existing IT and security leaders while expanding capability where needed • Manage technology budgets, procurement, and vendor relationships across regions • Represent technology in discussions with senior internal stakeholders, external partners, and regulatory bodies • Support evaluation of new projects by assessing technology requirements, risks, and integration considerations Qualifications • 15+ years’ leadership experience across both enterprise IT and operational technology within infrastructure, energy, utilities, industrials, or other regulated sectors • Experience building or scaling technology functions in emerging or frontier markets • Strong exposure to control systems, IoT, monitoring platforms, and data environments supporting physical asset operations • Demonstrated experience applying AI/ML in real‑world operational settings, including governance and risk controls • Proven track record delivering digital transformation and modernising legacy technology estates • Strong cybersecurity grounding for critical‑infrastructure environments • Experience operating across multiple countries and managing technology in high‑growth organisations • Bachelor’s degree in computer science or related discipline; Master’s degree preferred • Project/programme management certification (PMP/PRINCE2) and cloud architecture credentials (AWS/Azure/GCP) Apply Applicants meeting this criterion and looking for a progressive and challenging opportunity should submit an application via the apply link.
