Description
Europe has been asleep. The technologies our freedom depends on are owned by others. The next decade will not be decided by who writes the rules. It will be decided by who builds the capabilities the rules apply to.
Arquetipo builds the companies, technologies and industrial capabilities Europe must own, to stay free, sovereign, and able to defend its way of life. We organise what we build into three Missions: Spectrum Dominance, Trusted Autonomy and Sovereign Compute. We do not pick winners. We build the block. Our engineers built SmartForce, Airbus's military data and AI platform, and moved it from Palantir onto technology of our own.
Why this seat exists
Our CTO sets the technical direction of three Missions and every venture inside them. Decisions on autonomy, spectrum and silicon land on one desk, and each of them deserves an engineer's preparation. The Deputy CTO is that engineer: the person who turns the CTO's direction into decisions ready to take, follows them through the ventures, and makes sure nothing technical falls between the Missions. Six months in, the CTO decides faster and better, and you know Arquetipo's technology better than almost anyone in it.
What you'll do
• Prepare the CTO's technical decisions: the analysis, the options, the recommendation.
• Follow the technical roadmaps of the three Missions and their ventures, and raise what is late or misaligned before it costs us.
• Run the CTO's technical reviews: agenda, evidence, decisions, follow up.
• Write and keep the house's technical documents with the engineering teams.
• Represent the CTO in technical meetings with ventures, partners and institutions when he asks you to.
• First 90 days: own the follow up of one Mission's technical roadmap end to end.
What we look for
• Operator, not candidate. You have shipped in defense, deep tech or regulated industry. Not an academic. Not a consultant. An operator.
• Sovereignty as a project. You believe sovereignty is the project of our generation. Not a political slogan. A technology question.
• Patience with the slow. You can sit with regulation, certification and procurement timelines that test patience. Defense rewards those who outlast.
• Build, not talk. You would rather ship a working system than publish a paper about one. The product is the proof, for you too.
• Breadth with depth. You can read an autonomy architecture in the morning and a silicon roadmap in the afternoon, and say what is wrong with both.
What you bring
• An engineering degree (aerospace, telecommunications, electronics, computer science or similar); a master's is a plus.
• Three to six years in engineering for defense, aerospace or another regulated industry, ideally in systems engineering.
• Proven ability to write clearly: technical notes, decision memos, reviews.
• Comfort working beside senior leadership, with discretion.
• Fluent English and Spanish.
Who you'll work with
Miguel M. Acosta, Founder and CTO. Former CTO of Clue Technologies and former Chief Engineer for Autonomous Systems R&D at Airbus Defence and Space. You will work directly with him, every day.
Compensation matters. Mission decides.
We do not hire mercenaries. Only those who share the conviction build here, and those who do are paid well for it:
• €60,000 gross per year
• Annual bonus
• Equity participation: you own part of what you build
• Private health insurance for you and your family
• Flexible compensation plan
• Training and conference budget
• Flexible hours and hybrid work, with the office in Madrid as our base
