Description
Company Description Batallon is a software-only platform that fuses live open-source intelligence into dynamic training scenarios and measures decision-making under pressure. The system provides verifiable, portable credentials along with clear evidence and audit trails, ensuring accountability without replacing human judgment. Designed as a dual-use solution, Batallon serves commercial security, insurance, and critical infrastructure clients first, and defense and allied institutions second. Based in Madrid, Spain, the company focuses on scalable, secure technology that supports high-stakes operational environments. Team members collaborate remotely while working on products that directly impact real-world security and resilience.
Role Description As Co-Founder / CTO, you will lead the technical vision, architecture, and execution of Batallon’s software platform in a full-time, remote capacity. You will define and own the technology roadmap, make build-versus-buy decisions, and ensure the platform is secure, scalable, and resilient under real-world operational conditions. Daily responsibilities include overseeing system design, guiding engineering practices, reviewing code and infrastructure decisions, and integrating live open-source intelligence and data sources into training and credentialing workflows. You will collaborate closely with the founding team on product strategy, work with commercial and institutional partners to translate complex requirements into technical solutions, and support pilots and deployments with key clients. The role also involves building and mentoring a high-performing engineering team, establishing best-in-class DevSecOps practices, and representing Batallon’s technology vision in investor, customer, and partner conversations.
Qualifications
- Strong analytical skills and research capabilities to design, validate, and iterate on complex data-driven training and intelligence workflows.
- Clear, concise communication skills to collaborate with non-technical stakeholders, explain trade-offs, and represent the technology vision to clients and investors.
- Sales and marketing awareness to support go-to-market activities, shape technical narratives, and align product features with customer and market needs.
- Proven experience leading engineering teams, owning end-to-end product delivery, and setting technical standards in a startup or high-growth environment.
- Expertise in modern software architecture (cloud-native, APIs, data pipelines), security-by-design, and integrating external data or intelligence sources.
- Comfort operating in dual-use or regulated domains (e.g., security, insurance, critical infrastructure, defense) and working with enterprise clients.
- Ability to work remotely with high autonomy, make decisive trade-offs under time pressure, and maintain rigorous documentation and audit trails.
- Bachelor’s or master’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
