Founding Staff Engineer

This position is listed on behalf of a partner company, who manages all applications and next steps. Our partner is looking for a Founding Staff Engineer based in India (Remote). As a Founding Staff Engineer, you will be the first engineering hire, working directly with the founders and founding product designer to build and launch an innovative AI-powered interactive storytelling platform. You will own the entire product engineering lifecycle, from backend architecture and data infrastructure to the user-facing reading experience. Your mission will be to solve complex challenges in long-term AI memory, character consistency, narrative quality, and contextual reasoning to create immersive experiences that keep users engaged. You will leverage large language models, AI coding agents, and systematic evaluations to rapidly experiment, validate ideas, and deliver production-ready features. In a high-ownership environment with direct access to experienced founders and senior technical advisers, you will shape the engineering culture, technical architecture, and development standards from the ground up.
