Description

Build platforms that are meant to last At Brigade, we build secure, sustainable and future-proof digital foundations. We are a community of technical specialists who design, build and operate modern infrastructure and platform environments. Our work ranges from Cloud Foundations and Kubernetes platforms to Infrastructure as Code, CI/CD, GitOps, observability and open-source technology. We work with organizations that want to modernize their infrastructure, improve their engineering practices or reduce their dependency on closed ecosystems. We believe good engineering is more than simply implementing technology. Our engineers work alongside customers, challenge existing approaches and help build platforms that remain maintainable, secure and scalable long after the initial implementation. We are looking for an experienced (Linux) Platform Engineer who enjoys RHEL, SLES, Kubernetes, Kafka, Terraform and Ansible, and who is curious about open-source technology. What will you do? As a Linux Platform Engineer at Brigade, you work on the security of Linux and Kubernetes platforms for our clients: mostly international organisations with mission-critical systems. Depending on the project, you might be hardening RHEL and SLES systems, defining Kubernetes security settings for a new product, building the next version of a DevSecOps toolchain or setting up a secrets vault. You will, among other things: - Provide expert Linux security support on RHEL and SLES, including SELinux policies and permissions - Define and implement the latest Kubernetes security configurations, including policies with Kyverno - Plan, build and implement new versions of the DevSecOps toolchain, with GitOps through FluxCD - Define and carry out security patching, including patching policies - Set up and secure Kafka instances, including security permissions for new clients - Set up policies using Infrastructure as Code - Handle certificates and secrets, for example by setting up and maintaining a secrets vault - Automate hybrid cloud security tasks with Terraform and Ansible You work mostly remotely and on average one day a week on site in the southern NL region, and more when a task requires it. What do you bring? - A Bachelor’s degree in ICT or a relevant engineering field, or equivalent - At least 5 years of proven hands-on experience with Linux Distributions, Security Patching, Certificate Management - Proven professional experience with Azure - At least 24 months of Linux security experience within the last 3 years - Certifications: LPI or equivalent (Red Hat, SUSE), plus CKA and CKS - At least 1 year of hands-on experience, FluxCD, Kyverno, Terraform and Ansible - English at C1 level for listening and speaking, and at least B2 for reading and writing - Willingness to work on site southern NL region about one day a week Most importantly, you take security seriously without slowing teams down, and you document what you build so others can run it. Open source matters to us You don’t need to be maintaining a major open-source project on GitHub. But you should be interested in open source. Maybe you run Kubernetes at home. Maybe you contribute to a project. Maybe you prefer Prometheus and Grafana over another proprietary monitoring platform. Maybe you’re experimenting with Talos Linux, Argo CD, Backstage or something we haven’t heard of yet. At our own office, we operate an Open Compute Project (OCP) rack on which we run our own fully sovereign, open-source platform. We also host solutions for other organizations on this infrastructure, giving our engineers the opportunity to work with a real production-grade sovereign platform. Not just a lab environment. It gives us a place to build, operate, experiment and learn, while exploring how modern infrastructure can be delivered without depending entirely on hyperscalers or proprietary platforms. Brigade deliberately embraces open-source technologies and open standards because of the transparency, collaboration, flexibility and reduced vendor lock-in they can provide. What can you expect from Brigade? Brigade is not built around large layers of management. We are a community of specialists who work together in expert teams, our brigades. Knowledge sharing, technical expertise and collaboration are an important part of how we work. Brigade’s philosophy emphasizes community, cooperation, creativity, courage and doing things the right way. - €5,500 – €7,500 gross per month, depending on your knowledge and experience - Flexible mobility options, including a lease car, public transport or mobility allowance - Technically challenging Cloud and platform projects - The opportunity to work with experienced engineers and architects - Freedom to pursue entrepreneurial initiatives and new ideas - A strong focus on automation and engineering rather than repetitive manual operations - Exposure to Kubernetes, DevSecOps, Infrastructure as Code, security and open-source technologies - An environment where open-source technology and open standards are taken seriously - Hackathons, CTF’s, table tennis and lots of fun About Brigade Brigade has been working on infrastructure and security platforms since 2004. In 2026, LinProfs was rebranded to Brigade as the organization evolved into a network of expert teams focused on digital infrastructure, security and open ecosystems. Our mission is straightforward: bring technical excellence to organizations by creating future-proof, open, sustainable and secure digital foundations. Interested? If Linux security, Kubernetes and automation are things you genuinely enjoy working with, we’d like to meet you. Tell us about the security projects you’re most proud of, show us what you’ve built, and let’s have an informal conversation. Show us what you’ve built, tell us what technologies you’re excited about, and let’s have an informal conversation. - Join the Brigade.
