Description
Senior / Principal AI Platform Engineer
Dublin | Hybrid – 1 - 2 days per week in Dublin City
Permanent or Long-Term Contract
I’m working with an established technology organisation looking to hire a Senior / Principal-level AI Platform Engineer to help build and shape shared AI capabilities across a large-scale engineering environment.
This is not a role focused on adding an AI feature to a single product.
We’re looking for someone who has built platforms – ideally shared AI, cloud or developer platforms used across multiple engineering teams – and who can combine strong hands-on engineering with architecture, technical leadership and organisational influence.
What you’ll be working on
You’ll help design, build and evolve reusable AI platform capabilities that enable teams to adopt AI securely and effectively, including:
- Shared LLM and AI platform capabilities
- LLM gateways and model integration
- Agent and tool infrastructure
- RAG and retrieval capabilities
- AI guardrails, security and governance
- Evaluation and quality frameworks
- Reference architectures and reusable engineering patterns
- Platform observability, reliability and production readiness
- Helping engineering teams adopt new AI capabilities and ways of working
This is a hands-on position, but the impact goes well beyond coding. You’ll be expected to make technical decisions, take ownership, influence stakeholders and drive adoption across engineering teams.
What we’re looking for:
- Senior / Principal-level software or platform engineering experience
- Strong hands-on Python
- Strong production experience with AWS
- Experience designing or building platforms or shared engineering capabilities
- Recent experience with LLMs / Generative AI / AI platforms
- Strong architecture and engineering fundamentals
- Evidence of personally owning and implementing significant technical initiatives
- Ability to influence engineers, architects and senior stakeholders
- Strong communication and consulting skills
Experience with technologies and concepts such as Amazon Bedrock, LLM gateways, AI agents, MCP, RAG, evaluation frameworks, guardrails, AWS serverless/container services and Infrastructure as Code would be particularly relevant.
You do not necessarily need every technology listed. The most important thing is that you can demonstrate what you personally designed, built, implemented and led, and the impact it had.
The opportunity
This is a long-term opportunity within a stable enterprise environment, working on AI capabilities designed to have an impact across multiple engineering teams.
The position can be considered on either a permanent or long-term contract basis, with approximately 1–2 days per week in a Dublin City office.
If you’ve built platforms rather than simply consumed them – and want to play a leading role in how AI is implemented across an engineering organisation – we would be very interested in speaking with you.
