Senior AI Engineer – Generative AI & AI Agents Location: Amsterdam, Netherlands Work Model: Hybrid (Tuesday and Thursday in the office) Working Hours: Approximately 40 hours per week Experience Level: Senior Language: English and Dutch About the Role We are looking for a hands-on Senior AI Engineer to design, develop and implement AI-powered solutions that address complex business challenges within Risk Management. In this role, you will bridge the gap between business requirements and innovative AI technologies, taking solutions from initial concepts and prototypes through to production. You will work closely with business stakeholders, software engineers and AI leadership to build scalable, reliable and impactful AI applications. The ideal candidate combines strong software engineering fundamentals with practical experience in Generative AI, AI agents, Retrieval-Augmented Generation (RAG) and cloud-based AI solutions. Key Responsibilities - End-to-End AI Engineering: Design, develop and deploy production-ready AI solutions that address real business challenges. - Generative AI & AI Agents: Build and implement GenAI applications and intelligent agents to automate and improve business processes. - Python Development: Transform AI prompts and prototypes into robust, scalable and maintainable Python applications. - RAG Pipelines: Develop, optimise and maintain Retrieval-Augmented Generation pipelines. - Multi-Agent Systems: Design and implement AI solutions involving multiple collaborating agents. - Machine Learning: Develop and integrate machine learning solutions into business applications and workflows. - Cloud AI Solutions: Build and deploy AI applications using Microsoft Azure and related cloud services. - Databricks: Use Databricks to support AI engineering, data processing and solution development. - Stakeholder Collaboration: Translate business requirements, domain knowledge and operational processes into effective technical solutions. - Production Integration: Integrate AI applications into existing systems and workflows, ensuring scalability, reliability and quality. - Technical Collaboration: Align technical decisions, implementation approaches and delivery progress with AI leadership and relevant stakeholders. - Continuous Improvement: Contribute to improving AI engineering practices, solution quality and organisational AI capabilities. Required Skills and Experience - 3–5+ years of experience in AI Engineering, Software Engineering and/or Data Science. - Strong hands-on experience developing Generative AI applications and AI agents. - Demonstrable experience implementing machine learning solutions. - Practical experience designing, developing and optimising RAG pipelines. - Experience building scalable AI applications and multi-agent systems. - Excellent Python programming skills. - Practical experience with Microsoft Azure. - Mandatory hands-on experience with Databricks. - Experience taking AI solutions from prototype to production. - Strong software engineering skills, including writing maintainable and scalable code. - Excellent stakeholder management and communication skills. - Ability to translate complex business requirements into practical technical solutions. - Excellent spoken and written English. - Dutch language proficiency is required for the assignment. Nice to Have - Experience in Risk Management, financial services, pension administration or asset management. - Experience working in an organisation with mature AI capabilities. - A GitHub profile showcasing relevant AI engineering or Generative AI projects. - Experience integrating AI solutions into enterprise workflows and existing business systems. - A pragmatic, proactive and entrepreneurial mindset with a strong focus on implementation and delivery.
