DevOps Engineer - Operations / Platform Operations 12-Month contract - perm Hybrid (3 days in office) Our client is seeking an experienced DevOps Engineer with a strong operational focus to support and enhance business-critical applications and platforms. This position is ideal for someone who enjoys working in production environments, maintaining platform stability, and solving complex operational challenges through automation and continuous improvement. Working within a collaborative DevOps environment, you will take responsibility for the reliability, availability, security, and operational performance of applications and services throughout their lifecycle. Key Responsibilities - Manage and support business-critical applications, services, and platforms. - Monitor system availability, performance, capacity, and reliability. - Implement and enhance monitoring, logging, and alerting capabilities. - Investigate, troubleshoot, and resolve incidents and service disruptions. - Perform Root Cause Analysis (RCA) for recurring or high-impact issues. - Support incident, problem, and change management processes. - Assist with deployments, releases, and production changes. - Automate repetitive operational activities and improve efficiency. - Develop and maintain operational tooling and scripts. - Enhance deployment and operational processes through CI/CD practices. - Maintain technical documentation, operational procedures, and runbooks. - Carry out patching, housekeeping, and lifecycle management activities. - Identify and mitigate operational security and compliance risks. - Collaborate with development, infrastructure, platform, and security teams. - Participate in on-call support where required. - Drive continuous improvement using DevOps and Site Reliability Engineering (SRE) principles. About the Role This opportunity is geared towards professionals whose primary expertise lies within operations, reliability, and platform support, rather than software development. A typical split of responsibilities may include: - 70% Operations, Reliability & Automation - 30% DevOps Engineering, Development & CI/CD The exact focus may vary depending on the specific assignment. Technical Skills & Experience - Platforms & Operating Systems (Linux, Windows Server, Container technologies, Kubernetes and/or Red Hat OpenShift) - DevOps & Automation (Git, GitLab CI/CD, Azure DevOps, or comparable tooling, Ansible, PowerShell, Bash, Python, IAC) - Monitoring & Observability (Grafana, Prometheus, Splunk, ELK Stack / Elastic, APM) - Operations & Service Management (Incident, change, release & deployment) Background & Qualifications - Bachelor's degree, Master's degree, or equivalent professional experience in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Infrastructure, or a related field. - Several years of experience within DevOps Engineering, Operations Engineering, Platform Engineering, Application Engineering, or Site Reliability Engineering (SRE). - Proven experience supporting and troubleshooting production environments. - Experience working within Agile, Scrum, and DevOps environments. - Strong Dutch language skills, with English proficiency considered highly beneficial.
