Description

About Orakl Oncology Every cancer patient deserves a treatment that works for them. Today, too many never get one in time: fewer than 5% of new cancer drugs make it through clinical trials, and every failure costs patients precious time. Orakl exists to change those odds. We bridge biological and artificial intelligence by building large cohorts of virtual cancer patients, combining real patients' tumors with their medical histories and deep biological data. By integrating patient-derived tumor models, experimental biology and AI, we help pharmaceutical companies predict how cancer drugs will perform in patients, identify promising treatments and make better decisions earlier in drug development. Founded in 2023 by Fanny Jaulin, PhD, Diane-Laure Pagès, PhD, and Gustave Ronteix, PhD, Orakl is a spin-out of Gustave Roussy, one of Europe's leading cancer centres, building on a decade of research. Backed by international investors, we are scaling our technology and partnerships with pharmaceutical companies worldwide. Discover more at orakl-oncology.com The role We are looking for our first Communications, Brand & Events Lead to build Orakl's external presence from the ground up and establish the company as a leading voice in AI-driven cancer drug development. Your job is to make the world understand what we are building, why it matters and why Orakl is uniquely positioned to lead this transformation. You will shape how Orakl is perceived by the pharmaceutical companies we partner with, the scientists we want to attract, the investors backing us and the broader industry. From defining our corporate narrative and building our reputation to securing media coverage and putting Orakl in the right rooms, you will turn our scientific and commercial progress into visibility, credibility and meaningful relationships. You will own our communications, brand and events strategy, working directly with the founders and closely with our scientific, BD and Product Marketing teams. While Product Marketing focuses on our offerings and their commercial value, you will own Orakl's corporate voice, reputation and external presence. You will also lead internal events and support on internal brand alignment. This is a strategic but highly hands-on role. You will set the direction, build the function and execute much of it yourself, with the autonomy to experiment, make decisions and shape how Orakl grows. You will need to combine the speed and creativity of a startup with the standards of the pharmaceutical industry. Our communications must be distinctive and ambitious, but always grounded in scientific rigour, evidence and credibility. What you'll do Communications and brand: building Orakl's voice - Communications strategy. Define and execute Orakl's communications strategy across audiences, channels and markets, setting clear priorities that support the company's commercial, scientific, talent and fundraising ambitions. - Corporate positioning and narrative. Own Orakl's corporate story, key messages and tone of voice. Build a distinctive narrative around virtual patients and Orakl's role in advancing cancer drug development, ensuring consistency across the company. - Brand identity and presence. Own and evolve Orakl's brand identity and visual expression across the website, corporate materials, presentations and digital channels, working with designers and external partners when needed. - Content and editorial strategy. Build and manage an editorial calendar that turns Orakl's scientific breakthroughs, company milestones and industry perspectives into compelling content for the right audiences. - Founders' voice and thought leadership. Build the public profiles of Orakl's founders through LinkedIn, articles, op-eds, interviews and relevant scientific and industry channels. Identify the topics and conversations where Orakl can bring a distinctive perspective. - Press and media relations. Develop relationships with scientific, pharmaceutical, technology and business media. Identify newsworthy stories, pitch proactively and lead communications around funding, partnerships, scientific advances and company milestones. - Speaking opportunities. Build and pitch a targeted pipeline of speaking engagements, panels, podcasts and interviews that position Orakl's founders and scientific leaders as recognised voices in the industry. - Reputation and scientific credibility. Ensure all external communications are accurate, evidence-based and consistent with Orakl's scientific standards. Help manage sensitive announcements, complex topics and reputational issues in close collaboration with leadership and scientific teams. Events: putting Orakl in the right room - Events strategy and prioritization. Build Orakl's annual events strategy and calendar, identifying the conferences, industry gatherings and scientific forums that matter most to the business (e.g. JPM, BIO, AACR, BIO-Europe). Define objectives, budgets and expected outcomes for each. - Conference presence and execution. Own Orakl's participation in major industry events, from sponsorships, booths and speaking opportunities to registrations, logistics, travel, vendors and on-site execution. - Business development activation. Work closely with BD and the founders to identify priority contacts, secure relevant meetings and build targeted engagement programmes around key events. Ensure opportunities are captured and followed up. - Orakl-hosted events. Create and run Orakl's own event formats, from intimate scientific dinners and executive roundtables to webinars and partner gatherings, designed to strengthen relationships and generate meaningful conversations. - Event content and experience. Own invitations, event branding, booth design, signage and communications before, during and after events, working with Product Marketing on offering-specific and scientific commercial content. - Event performance. Evaluate the impact of Orakl's events against their objectives, including strategic relationships developed, meetings secured, commercial opportunities generated and visibility achieved. Use these insights to refine future investments. Internal communications and culture - Internal events. Plan and deliver company off-sites, all-hands gatherings and team celebrations that bring people together and strengthen Orakl's culture. - Internal brand alignment. Help teams understand and consistently communicate Orakl's mission, narrative and positioning, ensuring a coherent company voice as the organisation grows. Building the function - Processes and partners. Establish the tools, workflows and external partner network needed to deliver high-quality communications and events efficiently, managing agencies, freelancers and budgets. - Measurement and priorities. Define how communications and events success is measured, focusing on quality of visibility, audience relevance, reputation, strategic relationships and contribution to company objectives. - Cross-functional collaboration. Work closely with founders, BD, scientific teams and Product Marketing to identify the strongest stories, align priorities and ensure communications supports Orakl's broader ambitions. What we're looking for - Experience in communications, PR, brand or a related role, ideally within life sciences, biotech, healthtech or B2B technology. - Strong strategic communications skills, with experience developing corporate narratives, positioning and communications plans that support business objectives. - Exceptional writing and storytelling ability, from short-form social content and executive ghostwriting to press releases, long-form editorial, website copy and event communications. - Experience in media relations and thought leadership, with a track record of securing relevant earned media, interviews or speaking opportunities and building executive profiles. - Ability to communicate complex science, translating technical and scientific concepts into compelling, accurate stories for pharma decision-makers, investors, scientists and broader audiences. - Strong editorial judgment, with the ability to recognize what is genuinely newsworthy, identify compelling angles and choose the right audience, channel and moment. - Experience in events and conference management, from strategic planning and budgeting to hands-on execution, ideally with an understanding of how events can support commercial relationships. - A strong eye for brand and design, with the ability to maintain high creative standards across digital and physical touchpoints. - Hands-on and entrepreneurial mindset, equally comfortable setting a strategy, writing a LinkedIn post, pitching a journalist or running an event on-site. - Autonomy, creativity and pragmatism, with the confidence to work directly with founders, manage multiple priorities and make things happen in a fast-moving startup. - Fluent in English, French is a plus. - Work on-site with occasional remote work. You don't need to come from a traditional life sciences communications background. We value people who combine strong storytelling instincts, intellectual curiosity, sound judgment and the ability to make complex ideas accessible without compromising their accuracy. What Orakl offers - Build something from the ground up. Become Orakl's first Communications, Brand & Events Lead, with the opportunity to define the function, shape its priorities and grow a team as the company scales. - Shape the voice of an emerging category. Help establish Orakl as a recognised leader in virtual cancer patients and AI-driven drug development. - Work at the frontier of AI and cancer research. Bring breakthrough scientific advances to the audiences and organisations that can turn them into real-world impact. - Real ownership and direct access to leadership. Work closely with our founders and scientific experts, with significant autonomy, creative freedom and room to grow. - Time to recharge. 25 days of paid holiday, plus approximately 9 additional rest days (RTT) per year. - Hybrid working. 1–2 days per week occasional work from home. Interview Process - Hiring Manager Call: getting to know each other, aligning on expectations context. - Technical Deep Dive: detailed conversation about your experience and fit for the role, using examples of what you’ve done and how you like to work. - Case study: a take-home case to prepare and then to present in-person to the team. - Reference Call: with one or two former colleagues with whom you worked closely, including a direct manager. - Founder Interview: A final discussion with at least one founder on vision, culture fit, and mutual ambitions. 👉 More about Orakl here and here Find Jobs in France on Arbeitnow
