Within the Value Stream Technology and Value Domain Data Governance & Management, you play a key role in building a strong Data-driven organisation. You combine deep expertise in Data Management, Data Governance and AI with a broad understanding of IT, enabling you to drive impact across the organisation. As Head of Data Infrastructure & Reliability Engineering within the Data Governance & Management Value Domain, you are responsible for enabling enterprise-wide Data & AI platform (including Atlas) across ABN AMRO. You lead the teams that design, operate and continuously improve the underlying infrastructure, automation, monitoring and reliability capabilities that support data management, engineering, governance, analytics and AI solutions. Your leadership will directly contribute to a future-proof Data & AI platform landscape that is reliable, compliant, cost-efficient and able to support innovation at scale. Your job As an Expert Lead, your role is two fold: you lead your team and contribute hands-on to the realisation of IT and Data & AI strategy. Within the Data Infrastructure & Reliability Engineering, you are responsible for designing, delivering and operating reliable platform foundations for Data & AI services. You ensure that infrastructure, integrations, automation, monitoring, deployment pipelines and operational processes are robust, scalable and aligned with enterprise data and technology standards. You lead the implementation of reliability engineering practices that improve availability, performance, observability, recoverability and operational control across critical Data & AI platforms and provide adoption support to the data domains and CIO's. The main activities of the role Leadership - Lead and develop a team of IT and Data specialists, ensuring high performance and continuous growth - Manage HR processes including hiring, onboarding, performance management and talent development - Foster a culture of ownership, collaboration, innovation and continuous improvement - Lead distributed onshore and offshore engineering teams, ensuring effective delivery and operational excellence - Support internal and external audits and ensure audit readiness across the capability - Prepare budget plans and optimise investments in line with financial frameworks and strategic priorities - Actively engage with Central Data & AI Office (CDAO), Data Domains, Analytics teams, Data Governance and Risk functions to drive adoption and alignment Domain Responsibilities - Translate data strategy into solutions, guidelines and IT implementations across domains - Drive alignment between data governance, data engineering & enablement and AI Products - Monitor and report on adoption and effectiveness of IT and data standards and policies - Ensure compliance with regulatory, security and data governance requirements - Ensure availability, reliability and quality of IT systems and data platforms - Drive continuous improvement, innovation and automation within your domain Specific Responsibilities for Data Infrastructure & Reliability Engineering - Deliver, support and maintain reliable Data & AI infrastructure (Atlas) and platform capabilities across the organisation - Design and standardise infrastructure and reliability engineering capabilities that enable scalable, secure and efficient Data & AI services - Drive platform reliability practices, including observability, monitoring, alerting, incident response, performance management and capacity planning - Enable automation of infrastructure provisioning, deployment, configuration and operational controls to improve efficiency and reduce operational risk - Execute platform-management activities including incident management, change implementation, root-cause analysis and operational support in close collaboration with other Data & AI platform teams - Define and maintain operational standards for availability, resilience, recoverability, security and compliance across critical Data & AI services - Support dashboarding and monitoring capabilities that provide actionable insights into platform health, reliability, usage, cost, performance and operational risk - Support towards the data domains and CIO's for adoption of the platform for Data & AI solutions Working environment You will be part of the Value Stream Technology and in the Management team of Value Domain Data Governance & Management, where multiple data capabilities such as Data Quality, BI & Analytics, Data Lineage and Data Marketplace come together. Your profile You are a strong leader with a passion for Data and IT. You combine strategic thinking with hands-on execution and are able to bring people, processes and technology together. You are proactive, result-driven and adaptable. You understand complex organisational dynamics and know how to build alignment across domains. What we are looking for - 5+ years of experience in IT/Data roles, with at least 1 year in a leadership position - Good knowledge of Data Platforms, IT Platform management, Data Management and Data Governance concepts - Broad understanding of IT domains including architecture, platforms, security and operations - Proven experience in managing distributed engineering or data teams, including offshore delivery teams - Experience with product and platform ownership in complex, regulated environments - Strong stakeholder-management and communication skills - Strategic thinker with a focus on operational excellence Preferred Experience For Data Infrastructure & Reliability Engineering - Experience designing and operating enterprise-scale Data & AI infrastructure and platform services - Experience with reliability engineering practices such as observability, monitoring, alerting, incident response, root-cause analysis, capacity management and service-level management - Experience with infrastructure automation, DevOps, CI/CD, configuration management and operational control frameworks - Ability to translate security, compliance and continuity requirements into practical engineering solutions - Knowledge of disaster recovery, resilience engineering and audit-readiness for critical technology platforms - Experience driving operational excellence, cost optimisation and automation across complex platform landscapes - Experience embedding reliability, resilience and security-by-design practices across engineering teams and platform services We are offering We believe it is important to be a good employer.
