We are seeking a Senior DevOps Engineer to join our Barcelona office.
ZINIO powers some of the largest digital content distributors in the market. Newsstands, retailers, media service providers, inflight entertainment and libraries offering incremental revenue, auditable paid circulation, and valuable brand exposure for publishers worldwide.
ZINIO solves the logistical challenges of a complex digital ecosystem and unlocks new revenue and subscription opportunities for publishers from managed apps & newsstands through to fulfillment services, APIs & content readers.
About the Role:
The Senior DevOps Engineer will design, operate, secure, and improve our infrastructure and production systems. The role combines DevOps, Site Reliability Engineering, and infrastructure security, with a focus on automation, observability, scalability, reliability, and secure operations.
Working closely with development and infrastructure teams, you will automate processes, improve deployment and recovery, investigate technical issues, and contribute to reliable and secure systems.
What you will do:
• Manage and improve infrastructure across cloud and internal environments.
• Design and maintain production systems that meet defined availability, scalability, and reliability requirements.
• Automate infrastructure provisioning, configuration, deployments, and operational processes.
• Manage servers, applications, containers, networking, and infrastructure services.
• Develop and maintain Infrastructure as Code and configuration management practices.
• Develop and maintain CI/CD pipelines and deployment processes.
• Define and maintain deployment, rollback, disaster recovery, and business continuity procedures.
• Implement monitoring, logging, alerting, and observability practices.
• Define and monitor SLOs, SLIs, and system performance metrics.
• Investigate production incidents, identify root causes, and implement corrective actions.
• Conduct capacity planning, scalability testing, and performance analysis.
• Work with development teams to improve application reliability, performance, and operational readiness.
• Identify and address infrastructure and application security risks.
• Implement security controls across infrastructure, cloud services, networks, applications, and deployment pipelines.
• Manage access controls, secrets, credentials, certificates, and other security mechanisms.
• Support vulnerability management, security hardening, patching, and security incident response.
• Maintain technical documentation, operational procedures, and runbooks.
• Contribute to improvements in infrastructure architecture, reliability, security, and operational processes.
What you will bring:
• Experience in DevOps, Site Reliability Engineering, Systems Engineering, Infrastructure Engineering, or a related technical field.
• Experience administering and troubleshooting Linux-based systems.
• Knowledge of networking, HTTP, DNS, TLS/SSL, load balancing, and common infrastructure components.
• Experience with cloud platforms, including AWS or equivalent.
• Experience designing, implementing, or operating production systems with defined availability and scalability requirements.
• Experience automating technical and operational processes using Python, Go, TypeScript, Bash, or another suitable programming language.
• Experience with Infrastructure as Code and configuration management tools such as Terraform, OpenTofu, and/or Ansible.
• Experience with Docker and containerized environments.
• Experience with CI/CD pipelines and automated deployment processes.
• Experience with monitoring, logging, alerting, and observability platforms.
• Experience investigating production incidents, including troubleshooting and root cause analysis.
• Knowledge of infrastructure and cloud security principles, including authentication, authorization, secrets management, and network security.
• Experience with vulnerability management, security hardening, WAFs, firewalls, or access controls.
• Experience with web servers and reverse proxies such as Varnish, Nginx, or Apache.
• Knowledge of load balancing, caching, CDNs, and distributed systems.
• Ability to communicate technical information clearly and maintain technical documentation.
• Ability to investigate technical problems, evaluate solutions, and implement appropriate changes.
• Experience with AWS security services, SIEM/security monitoring, or security automation is an additional qualification.
