The role
Electrification is a key enabler for carbon neutral road transport. Using hydrogen as a carrier of green electricity to power electric trucks is part of the solution and a complement to battery electric vehicles and renewable fuels. Powertrain Strategic Development has the responsibility to explore and develop new sustainable propulsion solutions, including hydrogen-based propulsion technologies.
The fuel cell electric vehicle development is in a phase characterized by innovation and agile adaptation to new conditions and knowledge gained.
Responsibilities
- The System Engineer will be a key player in making the hydrogen powered fuel cell electric vehicle a successful product launch with customer satisfaction.
- The System Engineer will contribute to the technology development across the product development lifecycle. This includes systemization and concept development, coordination of interfaces between the HV system, battery system, driveline, hydrogen system, vehicle controls, and diagnostics.
- The role includes contributing to the definition of product use cases, operating modes, event flows and exceptions, and translating these into system requirements, attributes and interface specifications.
- The System Engineer will also contribute to electrical and electronic architecture adaptation, functional safety activities such as TSC, HARA and SACA, cybersecurity coordination and system-level SFMEA.
- Further tasks include supporting software test objects and deviations, contributing to safety and quality issue resolution, and participating in relevant software and architecture forums.
Qualifications
- Master of Science in Engineering or similar.
- Strong skills in electrical and electronics system engineering (HW and SW).
- Strong skills within electrical propulsion including customer needs and features.
- Experience within hydrogen solutions and fuel cell electric vehicles of value.
- Skills within functional safety and cybersecurity.
- Strong collaboration skills with experience working across engineering teams.
- Solution oriented with positive mindset.
- Able to manage ambiguity and a changing environment.
- Experience from clients systems, processes, and organization.
- Flexible and able to find ways to work effective outside standard processes and roles.
