As Head of Data Engineering, you will lead the build-out of a modern data platform, shape engineering standards, and develop a high-performing team while working closely with senior stakeholders to deliver long-term business value. With a clear roadmap and strong executive sponsorship, they are modernising their data estate and building a scalable platform to support analytics, AI, and business decision-making. The organisation is moving from strategy into execution and is seeking an experienced data engineering leader to define best practices, drive delivery, and build a team capable of supporting ambitious growth plans. The Role You will lead the Data Engineering function, combining people leadership, technical oversight, and strategic delivery. Responsibilities include: - Building, leading, and mentoring a team of Data Engineers, Analytics Engineers, and Platform Engineers - Defining and executing the data engineering roadmap in partnership with senior leadership - Driving delivery across platform development, data migrations, and modernisation initiatives - Establishing engineering standards covering code quality, CI/CD, testing, documentation, and operational excellence - Overseeing architecture decisions to ensure scalable, reliable, and secure data solutions - Developing cloud-based data platforms that support analytics, reporting, and AI use case - Managing stakeholder relationships across technology, product, analytics, and business teams - Ensuring platform reliability through monitoring, incident management, and operational governance - Supporting hiring, team development, and succession planning within the engineering function - Championing best practices across Data Engineering, DataOps, and platform operations Your Skills & Experience - Strong commercial experience leading Data Engineering teams and delivering large-scale data platform programmes - Expertise with modern cloud data platforms such as Snowflake, Databricks, Azure, AWS, or Google Cloud - Strong understanding of data warehousing, data modelling, ETL/ELT pipelines, and orchestration tools - Experience building and scaling engineering teams while maintaining high technical standards - Ability to lead architectural discussions and make informed technical decisions - Experience implementing CI/CD, automation, testing, and DataOps best practices - Strong stakeholder management skills with the ability to translate business requirements into technical delivery plans - Experience delivering complex transformation programmes, including migrations, consolidations, or greenfield platform builds - Familiarity with governance, security, and compliance requirements within enterprise environments - A hands-on leadership style with the ability to support technical teams when needed What They Offer - Salary between €110,000 and €150,000 depending on experience - Performance-related bonus - Comprehensive benefits package - Flexible and hybrid working arrangements - Opportunity to shape and scale an entire Data Engineering function - Significant exposure to senior leadership and strategic decision-making - Clear progression towards Director-level and broader Data & AI leadership responsibilities - The chance to influence the organisation's long-term data and AI strategy How to Apply If you're an experienced Data Engineering leader looking to build teams, drive platform transformation, and make a lasting impact, apply today to discuss this opportunity in more detail.
