Description

paytech is a fintech company developing a B2B SaaS platform for payment processing and orchestration. We are looking for an experienced Senior DevOps Engineer to help us scale, automate, and continuously improve our cloud infrastructure. We need someone who can go beyond day-to-day infrastructure maintenance — an engineer who takes ownership, makes sound technical decisions, proactively identifies risks, and helps build reliable, secure, and scalable production systems. Alongside our core payment infrastructure, we are launching an exciting new initiative: building a Data Warehouse (DWH) and real-time data processing infrastructure using ClickHouse and Amazon Kinesis. This is a hands-on engineering role with opportunities to influence architecture, introduce improvements, and work on technically challenging projects. What You’ll Do: - Own and improve production infrastructure running on AWS, ensuring high availability, security, scalability, and performance; - Design, automate, and maintain infrastructure using Terraform and Ansible; - Build, maintain, and continuously improve CI/CD pipelines, deployment processes, and infrastructure automation; - Manage and troubleshoot Linux-based systems, networking components, load balancers, and reverse proxies, including nginx and HAProxy; - Improve infrastructure observability through monitoring, logging, alerting, and proactive detection of potential issues; - Investigate production incidents, perform root cause analysis, and implement long-term solutions to prevent recurrence; - Participate in designing and operating our new DWH infrastructure based on ClickHouse and Amazon Kinesis, including data ingestion, streaming, scalability, and operational reliability; - Improve disaster recovery, backup strategies, capacity planning, and infrastructure resilience; - Identify opportunities to optimize AWS infrastructure costs without compromising reliability or performance; - Collaborate closely with development, security, and engineering teams on infrastructure architecture and technical improvements. What We’re Looking For: - 5+ years of experience in DevOps, SRE, Infrastructure Engineering, or a similar role, with solid experience managing production environments; - Strong Linux administration skills, including system troubleshooting, performance analysis, and optimization; - Hands-on experience with AWS, particularly EC2, VPC, IAM, RDS, and related infrastructure services; - Practical experience with Infrastructure as Code tools such as Terraform and/or Ansible; - Solid understanding of networking fundamentals: TCP/IP, DNS, routing, VPN, load balancing, and TLS; - Experience building and maintaining CI/CD pipelines; - Strong knowledge of nginx, reverse proxies, and load-balancing technologies; - Experience with monitoring and observability tools such as Prometheus, Grafana, or equivalent solutions; - Scripting and automation skills using Bash and/or Python; - Good understanding of infrastructure security, high availability, backup and recovery, and disaster recovery principles; - Experience troubleshooting complex production issues and identifying their underlying causes; - A proactive, ownership-driven mindset and the ability to independently design and implement technical solutions. Nice to Have: - Experience deploying, operating, or optimizing ClickHouse; - Familiarity with Amazon Kinesis, Apache Kafka, or other streaming technologies; - Experience supporting data warehouses, ETL/ELT pipelines, or real-time data platforms; - Experience with Oracle Database, PostgreSQL, or Redis; - Familiarity with SRE practices, including SLI/SLO definitions, incident management, and capacity planning; - Knowledge of security and compliance requirements in fintech, particularly PCI DSS; - Experience designing highly available, fault-tolerant, or multi-region AWS architectures. What We Offer: - Meaningful engineering challenges: Work on production payment infrastructure where reliability, security, and performance truly matter; - Technical ownership: Have a real impact on infrastructure architecture, engineering practices, and technology decisions; - New technologies and projects: Help build our next-generation data infrastructure using ClickHouse, Amazon Kinesis, and modern cloud technologies; - Room for improvement and innovation: We value engineers who challenge existing approaches, identify opportunities, and introduce practical improvements; - Experienced technical team: Collaborate with engineers who appreciate clean solutions, automation, and engineering excellence; - Professional growth: Expand your expertise across cloud infrastructure, SRE, distributed systems, and data platforms; - Flexible arrangements: Working format and compensation are discussed individually. Who Will Succeed in This Role: We’re looking for someone who doesn’t just keep infrastructure running, but actively makes it better. You should be comfortable taking responsibility for complex systems, investigating difficult problems, questioning existing solutions, and proposing improvements. If you enjoy working with production-critical infrastructure, solving challenging engineering problems, and helping shape the technical foundations of a growing fintech platform, we’d love to hear from you.
